Harvard Square Script Writers (HSSW) is one of the oldest and most established script writing groups in the nation.  Founded by Laura Bernieri in 1986, run until 2011 by Scott Anderson, and now under the direction of Genine Tillotson, HSSW is a place for creative people on the east coast to hone their craft.  We offer assistance in the development, refinement, and promotion of screen and stage plays.

HSSW is dedicated to the idea that every great film, television series, or stage play is born out of a compelling script.

Over the past 3 decades we have witnessed a transformation in the professional possibilities for scriptwriters. With the expansion of cable TV (at now over 200 channels), the internet, and on-demand video streaming, the venues for entertainment writing have literally exploded.

Highly affordable shooting and editing equipment have also re-shaped the film-making world, opening creative production gates far beyond the multi-million dollar Hollywood feature.

Today, Harvard Square Script Writers supports authors of films, TV pilots, video and film shorts, webisodes, indie films, and stage productions.

We meet weekly to critique members’ work (currently in Cambridge, Massachusetts) and we sponsor workshops on a wide range of topics, ranging from how to write a compelling log line to developing a powerful third act.  New members are always welcome and are encouraged to attend a trial meeting or two before submitting their work for review.  Dues per meeting is $15.00, payable in cash or check.

Authors seeking a script, treatment or outline review have two options:  Two Reviews for $100.00 or a Lifetime Author Membership for $300.00.  These payments are due 2 weeks prior to the member's first review session.

HSSW became a 501 (c) 3 non-profit in 2012.  Interested parties can contact Director, Genine Tillotson at genine@hsswriters.com
